拍卖简介

Christie’s is honored to present a group of works from the personal collection of Agathe Gaillard. The first to open a gallery dedicated to photography in 1975, Agathe Gaillard devoted her career to promote, support and accompany the photographers she represented. From its opening in the summer of 1975 to its closing in 2013, her gallery held 250 exhibitions. Agathe herself took a part in the creation of major festivals, such as ‘les Rencontres d’Arles’, private collections and museums dedicated to photography. Her collection, comprised of 149 prints, is the reflection of her many encounters with some of the greatest names of modern photography: André Kertész, with whom she had a long friendship, and Henri Cartier-Bresson whose fantastic print is dedicated to Luis Buñuel, as well as Harold Edgerton, Berenice Abbot, Larry Clark and Manuel Álvarez Bravo.
