The October sale of Oriental Rugs and Carpets will feature exceptional classical weavings and 19th century furnishing carpets, including a selection of important and previously unpublished 16th and 17th century carpets from private collections from around the world. Heading the sale is the magnificent Douglass Mughal Millefleurs Prayer Rug (lot 50) most likely woven in the 18th century in Kashmir and an unusually large and important late 16th century ‘Lotto’ carpet (lot 25). Also included in the sale is a wonderful 16th century Alcaraz carpet (lot 100) and group of 17th century Isfahan carpets from the collection of Barbara Piasecka Johnson (lots 51-53).
