On 30 September in New York, Christie’s presents the Post-War to Present auction, the premier platform for today’s leading artistic voices and celebrated figures of the post-war period. Offering fresh perspectives on figuration and abstraction through the lens of contemporary artists, such as George CondoMatthew Wong, Ernst Yohji Jaeger and Yu Nishimura, the sale also features pioneering artists of the post-war era, such as Joan MitchellAlexander CalderAlice NeelFrank StellaSam Gilliam and Jack Whitten. The sale is underpinned by sublime examples from esteemed private collections, including Joie de Vivre: Works from the Collection of Vivian FusilloArt is Art: Works from the Personal Collection of Wendy Al and Billy Al Bengston, Property from the Collection of Max and Cecile Draime, Property from the Collection of Phyllis and Fred Pressman and A Triumph of Figuration: Selections from the Joel and Carole Bernstein Family Collection. The sale will also be highlighted with leading examples of Latin American art, including the work of Olga de Amaral and a continuation of offerings from the distinguished collection of Tiqui Atencio and Ago Demirdjian. Leading the autumn auction season, the Post-War to Present sale embodies the apex of the lineage of 20th- and 21st-century art, extending ample opportunities for every type of collector.

Rachel Ng

Associate Specialist, Acting Head of Sale, Post-War to Present | Post-War & Contemporary Art

Rachel Ng is an Associate Specialist in the Post-War & Contemporary Art department in New York. She began her career at Christie’s in August 2017 as a researcher for the Post-War & Contemporary Art Evening Sale. Prior to returning to Christie’s in April 2019, she worked at The Hole, a gallery focused on emerging contemporary art. Currently on the 20th Century Evening Sale team, Rachel assists the department with research, business-getting, appraisals and valuations, and building client relationships. In addition to a specialized focus on art of the Post-War era, her interests lie in highlighting the voices of emerging and diverse artists, particularly through charitable auction and sale initiatives. Originally from Los Angeles, Rachel earned her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Columbia University.

Rachel has successfully completed training in the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice facilitated by a certified AQB instructor from the Appraisers Association of America.
Jack Nelson

Jack Nelson

Cataloguer | Post-War & Contemporary Art

Jack Nelson is a Cataloguer in the Post-War and Contemporary Art department in New York. He joined Christie’s in August 2021 and has enjoyed taking on a significant role in research and catalogue production for the Post-War to Present sale venue, as well as notable collections including those of Paul G. Allen and S.I. Newhouse.

Jack earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in the History of Art and Architecture, as well as Urban Studies, from Brown University. Prior to joining Christie’s, he had the pleasure of working at a number of cultural institutions in New York, including the Neue Galerie, and he remains most passionate about engaging with art and artists from underrepresented communities, namely those from the LGBTQIA+ community.
Nicholas Michael

Nicholas Michael

Cataloguer | Post-War & Contemporary Art

Nicholas Michael is a Cataloguer in the Post-War and Contemporary Art department at Christie’s in New York, where he is responsible for researching and cataloguing works in the category. Beyond his contributions to the Post-War to Present sale venue, Nicholas also supports business-getting and marketing initiatives within the broader international department. He joined the department in 2023 as Coordinator for the marquee 21st Century Evening Sale auctions and has played an instrumental role in the sales of distinguished collectors and patrons, including Mica Ertegun and Rosa de la Cruz.

Prior to joining Christie’s, Nicholas earned his Bachelor of Arts with Honors in the History of Art and Architecture at Brown University. A Bay Area native, he holds a particular interest in the region’s Figurative movement, Light and Space, and Minimalism.
