Coinciding with Paris Fashion Week, the inaugural Handbags & Accessories auction at Christie’s Paris features iconic pieces by leading designers Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Hermès, including the Birkin, the Kelly and the Bolide. One of the highlights is a metallic tri-colour Kelly bag created as a prototype for the window display at the Hermès store at 24, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. A unique piece, it was featured in Leila Menchari’s book Les Vitrines Hermès, a copy of which is offered with the bag. An ostrich Birkin, likely made for the same window display and possibly unique, is also offered in the sale.
