Hermès Shoulder Birkin

The Hermès Shoulder Birkin translates the iconic Birkin into a hands-free format, retaining its relaxed silhouette while adding larger handles designed to sit comfortably on the shoulder. Introduced by Jean-Paul Gaultier in 2004, the style — often known as the JPG Shoulder Birkin — elongated the proportions of the classic Birkin, creating a distinctive, easy-to-wear shape.

Reintroduced in 2024, the Shoulder Birkin expanded its size range with 29cm and 39cm iterations, succeeding the original 42cm vintage model. Offered in a range of leathers, including exotics, it combines the Birkin’s signature craftsmanship with a more relaxed, versatile attitude. In June 2026, Christie’s sold a Gold Evercolor leather Shoulder Birkin Light 29 with gold hardware for US$40,640, highlighting the continued interest in this model.
