Meticulously assembled over decades with the utmost discretion, Centuries of Taste | Legacy of a Private Collection reflects the breadth of an expansive yet refined vision.

The Old Master paintings in the collection were gathered with an acute eye, which sought works of the highest quality and images with immediate appeal and visual impact.

From the timeless elegance of Classical Chinese furniture and the striking glazes of Imperial porcelain to the sweeping brushstrokes of modern ink painting, the Chinese works of art reflect a wide array of objects and materials.
The English furniture deepens the scope of the collection and showcases the pinnacle of 18th-century design, distinguished by remarkable provenances. Enterprising spirit and humanism remain the hallmarks of the collection, as evidenced by its Impressionist and Modern art, including Camille Pissarro’s Matin, Soleil d’automne à Eragny and Alberto Giacometti’s Femme assise.

We hope our audiences will encounter such delight and wonderment in these objects as did the collector himself. Centuries of Taste | Legacy of a Private Collection will be presented in our salerooms in New York occurring from January 2025 to May 2026 at Christie’s New York and Christie’s Hong Kong.
