The ‘Legacy Machines’ series is inspired by the idea of what MB&F would have created had they existed in the 19th century. Some of the company’s most impressive horological inventions are incorporated in these stunning watches.
One of the company’s two signature collections, over the last decade the Legacy Machine has become an established MB&F icon. The LM101 is a three-dimensional work of art, not only incredibly attractive, but also a fascinating and mesmerising horological creation. With demand far exceeding supply, the present blue dial LM101, part of the prestigious ‘Stories in Time Collection’ offers collectors the opportunity to obtain a prime example of a blue dial LM101 in superb condition without waitlist or delay.
Featuring MB&F’s first in-house caliber with the exceptional independent watchmaker Kari Voutilainen who masterminded the aesthetic execution, the movement showcases superlative hand finishing throughout. Manually wound, a single mainspring barrel powers the movement. On the top is the LM101’s most prominent feature, the centrally positioned ‘floating’ balance wheel and escapement featuring a bespoke 14mm flying balance wheel and Straumann® double hairspring supplied by H. Moser & Cie for the 2021 releases. The stunning petrol blue dial plate shows hours and minutes on the brilliant white small offset dial at two o’clock and the 45-hour power reserve at six o’clock.
MB&F launched the first LM101 in 2014. In 2021, three new additions were made to the series: white gold with purple dial, red gold with dark blue dial, and stainless steel, with a light blue dial. The new editions were updated with focus on the time and power reserve dials, the “Legacy Machine” engraving seen on the dial of earlier models is no longer present. Through the sapphire crystal back, the exquisitely hand-finished movement is revealed with darkened NAC bridges introduced for the 2021 models.

In 2011, MB&F launched its round-cased Legacy Machine collection. These more classical pieces pay tribute to nineteenth-century watchmaking excellence by reinterpreting complications from the great horological innovators to create contemporary objets d'art. In 2011, MB&F opened the first M.A.D. Gallery in Geneva, followed by others in Taipei, Dubai and Hong Kong. The galleries showcase the full range of MB&F Machines as well as a variety of carefully curated Mechanical Art Devices capturing the magic of kinetic art.
