Introduced in 2021 in platinum with a dark blue dial, reference 5236P presented a new interpretation of the perpetual calendar display. The so-called 'in-line' configuration, historically referred to as the 'American Calendar' due to its popularity on U.S. pocket watches of the 1920s and 1930s, made its first appearance in a Patek Philippe perpetual calendar wristwatch with this model.

The dial is distinguished by its exceptional symmetry and legibility, with the day, date, and month displayed together in a single large aperture at 12 o’clock. The lower half of the dial features a moon phase display combined with small seconds, flanked by discreet circular apertures for the leap-year and day/night indications. This refined layout enhances both functionality and aesthetic balance.

To realise this innovative display, Patek Philippe developed an entirely new self-winding movement, the calibre 31-260 PS QL, incorporating a dedicated in-line display module protected by three patents. The platinum case, elegantly proportioned, is water-resistant to 30 metres.
