拍賣簡介

Christie's sale of Art of the Islamic and Indian world totaled £4,523,325 / $7,287,077 / €5,645,110

Sara Plumbly, Head of Department, Christie’s London commented: “The results of this sale indicate a renewed vigour in the market for Islamic works of art and works on paper. The full saleroom attracted a notable range of buyers; from private and institutional to trade and clients previously unknown to this category. The top ten lots went to eight different buyers. The variety of works within the top ten illustrates the demand across many areas of Islamic art – it includes Ottoman and Indian arms and armour, kufic Qur’an pages, Iznik pottery, and Indian and Persian paintings. We are particularly pleased with the result of a painting of Ibrahim Adil Shah II of Bijapur, which realised £505,250 / $813,958 / €630,552. We look forward to concluding the week with the sale of ‘Arts of Islam’ at South Kensington on 5 October 2012.”
