Christie’s est heureuse de présenter : Madame Simone Steinitz – The Legacy of Taste, une vente hommage dédiée à Simone Steinitz, véritable figure de l’élégance et de l’art de vivre à la française. Christie’s is honoured to present Madame Simone Steinitz – The Legacy of Taste, a sale dedicated to Mrs Simone Steinitz, whose life embodied elegance and the French art de vivre. This landmark sale, taking place on 19 June, will highlight 130 exceptional pieces, carefully selected for their beauty and rarity. Amongst them are works with prestigious provenances by the greatest masters of the 18th century, including Jean-Henri Riesener, Pierre-Philippe Thomire, Jean-François Leleu and Georges Jacob, to name a few. Paul Gallois, Director, Head of European Furniture, has been based in London since 2015. Prior to this, he worked as a European Decorative Arts specialist in Christie’s New York in 2014 which was preceded by his training by renowned furniture expert and author Alexandre Pradère.

He now runs the sales of European Furniture and Works of Art at Christie’s London, working closely with the international Decorative Arts team with an important focus on expertise and research on European Furniture masterpieces. He has made important discoveries in this field such as the bureau de pente by Jacques Dubois delivered to Madame de Pompadour which sold in 2018 for £1,871,250 (against an estimate of £70,000-100,000) or the 18th century baron de Besenval provenance of a bureau plat and cartonnier from Marion Lambert collection in 2021.

In 2019, Paul Gallois headed the landmark sale, ‘Masterpieces from a Rothschild collection’, an international success selling for a total of £25,394,625 (against a pre-sale estimate of £8 to 12 million), including five lots of 18th century French furniture selling for over a million pounds.

Paul has a Law degree from the University Panthéon-Assas and also holds a degree in History of Art from the Sorbonne.

A graduate with a Master’s in law and art history, Nathalie joined Christie's in 2017. Since joining the Collections department in 2019, Nathalie has regularly been instrumental in the success of iconic collections sales. In 2019, the Catherine Deneuve et Yves Saint Laurent sale, the first haute couture auction in Christie's history, was a global sensation (€1.1 million). In 2020, the monumental 20th century sculptures of the Jardin secret de Paul Haim fetched €20.6 million. In 2021, the Collection Daniel Lebard, sous le prisme de la modernité sale, was a resounding success (€31.6 million), setting a number of world records for designers. In 2023, the Rothschild Collection, sold between Paris and New York, achieved a total of nearly €70 million. In 2024, Nathalie's expertise in auctioning exceptional objects took her to a new level: she was entrusted with the organisation of all collection sales in Paris.
