拍賣簡介

The sale of The Japanese Aesthetic realised £1,531,775 / $2,326,766 / €1,802,899, selling 68% by lot and 69% by value.

Anastasia von Seibold, Head of Sale, Japanese Art commented:“The opening section of this sale highlighted that the Japanese print market is extremely buoyant, with 89% of the 60 private lots offered selling. Following the success of Meiji art in our New York sale in March, we saw continued strength of demand for the bronzes and enamels from this period, which were also from private collections. The top three lots point to the renewed interest in works commissioned by the Dutch and Portuguese for the export market; we were particularly pleased with the results for the wedding casket (lot 281) and the Chatsworth cabinet (lot 282). Inro from Private European collections exemplifying interesting designs and techniques also attracted tremendous prices.”
