巴黎之魂:重要私人珍藏1920及30年代設計傑作

拍賣簡介
Christie’s Design is honored to present The Spirit of Paris: A Private Collection of 1920s & 1930s Design. Assembled with great discernment, this extraordinary collection of rare furniture and objects tells of a significant and eternally fascinating period in the creative and cultural life of a great city, Paris, in the Twenties and Thirties.
Works by iconic French Art Deco masters such as Jean Dunand, with several dinanderie and lacquer pieces, Andre Groult, with his sophisticated galuchat creations or Marcel Coard with his elegant parchment furniture will be represented in the sale. Another highlight of the collection is a carpet of striking cubism design by Ivan Da Silva Bruhns for the Maharaja of Indore and his modernist palace. A spectacular ensemble of boxes, vanity cases and cigarette cases by Paul Brandt, Jean Fouquet, Gérard Sandoz, and Raymond Templier perfectly demonstrate a uniquely French flair in works of exceptionally fine craftsmanship.
Prominently represented in the collection are 1930s creations by artists Alberto Giacometti and Jean-Michel Frank, defining a new sense of luxury through minimalism. Among several rare works by Jean-Michel Frank, highlights are an exceptional straw marquetry cabinet, rare Mica low tables and a pair of leather armchairs. Highlights from a wide range of designs by Alberto Giacometti include the ‘Flambeau’, ‘Bilboquet’, ‘Grecque’ and ‘Bougeoir’ models.
Explore the auction in person at our New York Rockefeller Center galleries from 2–6 June.
