Event date 1月22日 - 2月6日 -
Event location 紐約
At the heart of Classic Week are exceptional Old Master Paintings, led by a luminous Canaletto and a rare, powerful work by Artemisia Gentileschi – her earliest self-portrait – alongside highlights from A Lifelong Pursuit: Important Italian Paintings from a Distinguished Private Collection.
Old Master Drawings take a scholarly turn with a newly identified Michelangelo study for the Sistine Chapel ceiling, offering fresh insight into the artist’s working process. A Life of Discerning Passions: The collection of H. Rodes Sr. and Patricia Hart features celebrated names including sculpture by Giambologna, drawings by Claude Lorrain and a watercolor by J. M. W. Turner.
Classic Week also encompasses Antiquities, with important Roman sculptures including a pair of Porphyry columns and a marble Narcissus; a strong selection of Near Eastern cuneiform panels and bronze deities; and a beautiful group of ancient jewelry of timeless elegance.
Rounding out the series of live and online auctions, Fine Books and Manuscripts including Americana is led by Valuable Books in the History of Astronomy from the Collection of Jay M. Pasachoff and Rare Books from the Collection of Rudy Ruggles, Jr.
