Camille Bombois (1883-1970)
Property from the Estate of Billy Wilder Billy Wilder, a legend in his own time, is perhaps the most prolific and brilliant director, screenwriter and producer of 20th Century film. Working with legends such as Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, he created some of the most enduring films of his time. We, as an audience, first became acquainted with his stellar collection when Impressionist works by Balthus, Egon Schiele, Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró and others came to auction in 1989 (The Billy Wilder Collection, Christie's New York, 13 November 1989). Christie's is honored to present a group of primitif moderne paintings as well as a rare work by Pierre Roy from the Estate of Billy Wilder. Please see the accompanying lots 1-11.
