An inlaid ivory painted and embroidered fan**
Meiji period (late 19th century), signed Sadamitsu and sealed
The ivory frame end sticks inlaid in Shibayama style with mother-of-pearl and aogai decorated in gold, red and black hiramaki-e and takamaki-e with peacocks, sparrows and butterflies amongst flowers and grasses, the fan painted on satin on one side with birds amongst dense foliage, the other side embroidered with birds and wisteria before Mount Fuji and a river landscape; embroidered signature and seal
