A ZHAZHENMU WAISTLESS FOOTREST, JIAOTA
PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT PRIVATE MIDWESTERN COLLECTION

18TH CENTURY

此品1997年源自M.D. Flacks,著錄於《Classical Chinese Furniture》圖錄,編號15;
Leece、M. Freeman合著《China Style》,57頁。

Zhazhenmu is also known as jiajingmu in Southern China, and is associated with the mulberry species. Its attractive colour and figure, and durable nature make it suitable to a variety of forms. One distinct feature of the present footrest is the combination of massage rollers and latticework, which is particularly pleasing. A variation of this can be seen on a huanghuali massage stool and footrest illustrated by Grace Wu Bruce in Chan Chair and Qin Bench: The Dr. S.Y. Yip Collection of Classic Chinese Furniture II, Hong Kong, 1998, pp. 84-5, no. 13.
