On oval raised openwork foot, the drop-shaped body rising to a tapering elongated hexagonal neck with floral finial, the filigree decoration consisting of a foliated spray within a central medallion, the borders with split-palmettes, the sides and neck with intricate scrolling tendrils

A casket in the Victoria & Albert Museum, attributed to 18th century Cuttak, Orissa and made in an identical technique displaying a dense surface made of comma-shaped medallions is published by Christiane Terlinden, Mughal Silver Magnificence, Brussels, 1987, cat. 229, p. 154 (02739 I.S.). An almost identical silver filigree sprinkler is in the Nasser D. Khalili Collection (Vernoit, S., Occidentalism in the Nasser D. Khalili Collection, vol.XXIII, Oxford, 1997, no.92, pp.155-156). It is attributed to 18th century India.
