During the early years of the 20th century, Cartier contracted the celebrated French watchmaker Edmond Jaeger to make watches for Cartier branded timepieces. Cartier guaranteed 250,000 Fr. of business to Edmond Jaeger and the presently offered watch, being offered for the first time at auction, is a fine example of this collaboration.

The De Guigne provenance and initials add to the remarkable history of the present timepiece.
