The present timepiece is an extremely appealing example of reference 3800, further distinguished by its dial, which has gradually aged to a very appealing green-like hue, giving the watch warmth and character, qualities that are highly valued by seasoned Nautilus collectors.

Reference 3800
The reference 3800, which was manufactured between 1981 and 2006 and was intended to be the mid-size equivalent of the original Nautilus reference 3700, faithfully maintained the Nautilus' distinctive design language. With a diameter of 37.5 mm. as opposed to the 3700's 42 mm. case, it provided a more elegant and adaptable wrist presence while keeping the bold personality that characterizes the Patek Philippe collection.

Launched alongside reference 3800, the Caliber 335 SC marked a significant advancement. The display was discreetly modernized by the addition of a central seconds hand made possible by this movement. The original caliber, which lacked a quick-set date, was used in early models. An important technical improvement made during the reference's lengthy and prosperous production run was the introduction of an upgraded version by Patek Philippe in 1987 that included a quick-set date function, such as on the present timepiece.
