Hiroshige’s Buyo Kanazawa hassho yakei presents one of the celebrated Eight Views of Kanazawa, a scenic tradition inspired by the famous landscapes of southern Musashi Province. Hiroshige captures the tranquil beauty of the area through a carefully balanced composition, in which distant mountains, water and boats are enveloped in a soft atmospheric haze. His subtle treatment of light and space transforms the celebrated site into a poetic landscape, conveying the quiet beauty that made Kanazawa a popular destination for Edo travelers.
