The Aston Martin DB6 was announced at the London Motor Show in October 1965, and was immediately recognised as a development from the DB4 and DB5. Howevever, the car was 3¼ inches longer, had more headroom and had a different swept-up tail which formed a spoiler. In addition to the new squared-off tail, split bumpers and a rounded rear windows were instant identifiers of the DB6.

The car was powered by the successful 4-litre, 6 cylinder twin cam engine already proven in the racing DBR2 and production DB5 series, while 'Selectaride' damper control was now standard equipment. As further departures from tradition, a power lock limited slip differential, chrome plated or painted wheels, whitewall tyres and two or three eared hub nuts all became options within the standard price which in 1965 was ¨4,998. The DB6 was also offered with a higher powered engine in Vantage specification and with triple Weber carburettors, increased compression ratio and special camshafts produced 325bhp as compared to 282bhp and a top speed approaching 150mph.

This brown manual DB6 with black leather upholstery returned from the USA in recent years. Although a factory letter confirms this car was of Vantage specification it is currently on standard SU carburettors and a low oil pressure reading perhaps needs investigation. There is some damage to the drivers door and front wing and some paint is missing from the near side wing. It has a Webasto sunroof and American wing mirrors fitted. A generally sound example of this desirable marque requiring attention to the points mentioned above.
