Marian's Richters & 21st Century Evening Sale

Marian's Richters & 21st Century Evening Sale

Sale Overview

Marian’s Richters and the 21st Century Evening Sale bring together the legacy of the most influential gallerist of our time with a distinguished selection of masterworks from the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Led by Kerze, a masterpiece by Gerhard Richter, Marian’s Richters presents seven exceptional paintings by the artist, offered directly from Marian Goodman’s private collection. Each was acquired at the time of its making in recognition of defining moments in Richter’s practice; together, the group captures the achievement of the greatest living painter through the eyes of the esteemed gallerist who pioneered his market.

Marian’s Richters is followed by the 21st Century Evening Sale, an outstanding selection of artworks from the 1980s to the present. One of the most compelling events on Christie’s global auction calendar, the sale reflects the seismic shifts that have shaped the artistic landscape of this period. Celebrated blue-chip artists appear alongside today’s emerging creators, vividly capturing the art of our generation — where we are, how we got here and where we’re going next.
