Geneva · London · New York · Paris · Online | November – December 2020
From London to New York, by way of Paris, Geneva and online, Christie’s has brought extraordinary objects and designs to many corners of the world this year. Record-breaking results were achieved, including 46 world auction records set during the online sale of Fine & Rare Wines and Spirits, and for a Fancy Purplish Red diamond at US$2,640,000 per carat during Magnificent Jewels in Geneva. Many special lots have gone under the hammer to reach exceptional prices, with The Winston Legacy Sapphire realising US$6,030,000 during New York Magnificent Jewels, and F.P. Journe’s pioneering reference ‘T’ platinum Tourbillon Souverain selling for US$577,500 in Watches Online: The Geneva Edit. Christie’s has also supported a number of charitable causes throughout the year, raising £296,188 during an online jewellery charity auction in aid of Together for Children and their work on child welfare in Greece, as well as important funds for a museum during the sale of the collection of esteemed handbags collector Susan Casden.
