Henri Matisse books

Between 1932 and 1950, Henri Matisse engaged deeply with the creation of livres d’artiste, or artist's books, producing eight limited-edition volumes that stand as significant works within his oeuvre. Monet's books showcase a harmonious interplay between text and imagery, reflecting the artist's collaboration with various literary forms, including poetry and drama. Notable among these is Poésies de Stéphane Mallarmé (1932) and Pasiphaé (1944). Monet's renowned Jazz series (1947) presents vibrant cut-out silhouettes, including his iconic depiction of Icarus.
