Sale Overview

Christie’s Antiquities sale in New York on 4 February features a diverse selection of objects from across the Mediterranean world, including works of art from ancient Greek, Roman, Egyptian and Byzantine cultures, ranging in date from the 3rd millennium BC to the 12th century AD.

The sale is led by important ancient Greek objects from a New York estate. Highlights include an exceptional red-figured kylix, attributed to the Brygos Painter, and a large Cycladic marble female figure, preserving extensive remains of original red pigment.

Christie’s is honoured to present a group of ancient jewellery formerly in the collection of Ernst and Marthe Kofler-Truniger of Lucerne. Important works include a rare pair of Greek gold spiral-form earrings from the Geometric period, a Greek gold and glass finger ring formerly in the collection of Édouard Guilhou and an impressive pair of Greek gold and enamel earrings formerly in the collection of Dr Jacob Hirsch (1874–1955).

All works will be on view at Christie’s Rockefeller Center galleries from 31 January through 3 February.
