Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings

Sale Overview

On 29 April, the Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings auction will present an outstanding selection of masterpieces, led by Listening to Waterfall in Pine Forest, painted during Fu Baoshi’s artistic peak — the “Jingangpo” period in Chongqing.

The sale brings together numerous highlights, including landscape paintings by Zhang Daqian in his signature styles, such as Landscape after Ju Ran and Verdant Mountains in Splashed Colour. Other notable works include Studio of Abundant Shade by Huang Binhong; A Mountain Village of Chongqing by Wu Guanzhong; and an exquisite group of horse paintings by Xu Beihong, including Galloping Horse, adding a festive spirit in celebration of the Year of the Horse.

Featuring treasures from private collections around the world, this spring auction offers a vibrant and diverse array of works that capture the richness and variety of modern and contemporary Chinese painting — an exceptional opportunity for connoisseurship and appreciation.
