Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale

Sale Overview

As part of our 20th/21st Century auction series, Christie’s is delighted to present the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale on 1 March 2023. Led by important works on paper by David Hockney and Yoshitomo Nara, as well as exceptional paintings by Marlene Dumas and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, the auction presents an exciting array of works by the most important artists working today.

Other highlights include works by leading contemporary names, such as Flora Yukhnovich, George Rouy, Nicole Wittenberg, Guy Yanai, Caroline Walker, Scott Kahn and Ewa Juszkiewicz.

On Tenterhooks, an important work by Karin Mamma Andersson will also be offered and follows on from her major solo exhibition at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebaek in 2021. An early drawing by Lucian Freud, Man in a Spotted Jacket, coincides with the artist’s recent exhibition at the National Gallery in London, and Frozen Lake by Peter Doig is timely with the recently opened exhibition at the Courtauld in London.
