Following the success of Imperial Scholar’s Objects sale last autumn, Christie’s is proud to present The Ai Lian Tang Collection – 800 Years of Chinese Ceramics this spring, featuring twenty iconic works from one of the world’s most discerning private collections of Chinese art. Spanning over eight centuries of ceramic achievement—from the Northern Song dynasty to the Qing—this carefully curated selection brings together some of the most celebrated and representative examples in the history of Chinese ceramics.
Highlights include a rare carved Ding ‘dragon’ dish from the Jin dynasty; a highly important Yuan blue and white ‘Jinxiangting’ narrative jar; a Hongwu copper-red decorated kendi; and a Yongzheng mark and period famille rose ‘peach’ bowl of exquisite refinement. Many of these pieces have been published, exhibited, and long admired by connoisseurs, cementing their status as icons of their respective eras.
Special Notice
From June 2025, EU regulations 2019/880 and 2021/1079 introduce new licensing requirements and regulations relating to the import of cultural goods into the EU. We recommend clients check ahead of the sale whether the lot they wish to purchase and its import into the EU could be impacted by the regulations.
