Sale Overview

On 21 October , Christie’s will present Volume 2 of The Ann and Gordon Getty Collection, the second in a series of landmark auctions of the Getty’s storied San Francisco interior sold to benefit the Ann and Gordon Getty Foundation for the Arts, dedicated to the support of arts and science organisations.

Concentrated on the Fine Art in the collection, Volume 2 includes Eighteenth-Century Venetian view paintings, Impressionist and Nineteenth-Century landscapes and studies of the female form, and still lifes including an extensive collection of paintings by Fantin-Latour and others. Artists include Canaletto, Cassatt, Joli, Manet, Sargent, and Pisarro.The works are offered thematically, in keeping with the famed gallery walls of the Getty’s Pacific Heights Residence.

Sarah El-Tamer is a Vice President and Specialist, Head of Day Sales for the Impressionist and Modern Art Department in New York. Sarah started at Christie’s in May 2010 in the Post-War and Contemporary Art department and joined the Impressionist and Modern Art department in July 2011. In June 2014, Sarah became the department's inaugural Head of Online Sales, successfully leading six consecutive 100% sold-by-lot 'white glove' Picasso Ceramics Online Sales. She was promoted to AVP, Head of Day Sale in January 2019, and has served as VP, Head of Day Sales since July 2022. Sarah received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University in Art History and Economics. A native New Yorker with Lebanese heritage, Sarah is fluent in Arabic and French.

Specialist, Head of Private Sales | Old Masters

After receiving his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, Joshua Glazer obtained his M.A. and Ph.D. at New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts. His dissertation, From Dossale to Macchina: the Silver Altar of Saint John the Baptist and its symbolic function in Florence, was written under the direction of Professor Marvin Trachtenberg. In addition to traveling extensively throughout Europe, he has lived in Florence and Paris. He has lectured in New York and Italy, and has taught art history at New York University, Hunter College and Adelphi University.

Senior Vice President, Head of Department | 19th Century European Art

Deborah Coy returned to Christie’s in 2011 as Vice President, Senior Specialist for 19th Century European Art. From 2009 until 2011 she was Head of European Paintings at another major auction house in New York, and from 2003 to 2009, she was Head of the 19th Century European Department at Christie's New York. Deborah also served for 15 years as Senior Fine Arts Appraiser in Christie’s Estates & Appraisals department, where her responsibilities included appraising paintings and drawings from all areas and centuries. In her current role, Ms. Coy is responsible for organizing the department’s sales, overseeing appraisals, and piloting long-term business and client development. Ms. Coy earned her B.A. in Art History from Wellesley College, an M.A. in Art History from Williams College, and holds a J.D. from Villanova University.
