A well engineered 1in:1ft scale model of a Sanderson 12 hp single cylinder beam engine of 1846,
built by A. Walshaw, 1973, from Clarkson castings, the brass bound wood lagged cylinder .7/8in. bore x 2½in. stroke, parallel motion with barrelled anchor and drop links, studded stuffing boxes, lagged underfloor inlet pipe with main stop and governor valves, the cast beam supported on a single fluted column and running in split bearings, rod driven dummy feed pump, barrelled fluted connecting rod with wedged and bolted big and little end bearings, webbed crank, lattice lift-off eccentric rod, belt and gear driven governor and linkage, spoked flywheel and squared crankshaft end, finished in black and polished brightwork, simulated stone and parqué floor with hand railings, wood plinth -- 15 x 22in. (38 x 56cm.)
