The case with turned-brass handle to concave moulded top, glazed front and sides, later mahogany panel to the rear door, the dial with convex signature plaque to the arch engraved with a central sunburst and phases of the moon interupting the signature John Wrench Chester, the main dial with Roman and Arabic brass chapter ring and pierced blued steel hands, the matted centre with heavy foliate scroll engraving and subsidiary calendar aperture above VI, foliate spandrels, the four ringed pillar single fusee movement with pull quarter repeat on two bells, later anchor escapement, the foliate engraved backplate signed John Wrench Chester within a foliate cartouche
