KORYO DYNASTY (12TH CENTURY)

Of tapered melon form resting on an inverted, short ring foot and rising to a concave mouth, decorated with six lappet panels separated by six raised ridges and rendered in inlaid white and black slip, each lappet enclosing a linked chain of chrysanthemum florets, also inlaid in white slip with black slip stems, applied with a cover with loop knop also inlaid in black slip with four small leaf sprays, covered overall by a green celadon glaze pooling slightly emerald in the recesses and with dense overall crackle--6 7/8 in. (17.5 cm.) high, handle and spout restored
