Finely carved in deep relief with the Goddess of Transcendent Wisdom, Prajnaparamita, flanked by two further Buddhas, on a ground of lotus scrolls within a beaded flame border, the reverse with a central cartouche bearing auspicious inscriptiong as a preface to the Prajnaparamita sutra, all on a red ground painted with concentric circles, one side carved with scrollwork and bearing the Tibetan letter, ka

Lot Essay

The carved letter on the side of the manuscript cover indicates that it would likely have held the first volume of the Prajnaparamita sutra.
