An early 19th-Century brass and fruitwood surveying graphometer,
signed on the alidade G.F. Brander fecit Aug. Vind., the protractor with well-engraved scale 0°-90°, the 0°-90° and 180° points indicated with a fleur-de-lys, the centre register with engraved oak-leaf border, the alidade with lock screw and two removable sights, the fruitwood base plate with three screws enabling the protractor and alidade to be removed for paper or chart attachment for use with a plane-table, the lower edge with two fixed sights, with detachable tripod or staff mounting, contained in the original foliate decorated green Augsburg-paper lined fruitwood case, with two brass hooks and eyes -- 10½in. (26.7cm.) wide; and a folding wood tripod
