A KINAI tsuba, A DATED tsuba BY ICHIRYUKEN MASAYOSHI AND ANOTHER KINAI tsuba
Edo Period (19th century)
The first of iron, circular shaped, with tessen [clematis] carved and pierced within the rim, signed Echizen no ju Kinai saku, 7.8cm; the second with a heavy mokko-shaped iron plate, inlaid with a snail in shibuichi, on a cane of bamboo and two fan papers, one of gold and the other silver, the former engraved with a poem and the latter bearing the signature and date, Koka san hinoe uma (nen) hachigatsu ni [a day in the 8th month of 1846] Ichiryuken Masayoshi, 7.7cm.; the third of oval shape, pierced and carved with a wild boar sleeping beneath grasses, signed Echizen no ju Kinai saku, 7.05cm.
