THREE AIKUCHI AND TWO TANTO
The first aikuchi blade, hirazukuri, iorimune, itamehada, suguha hamon, ubu nakago, mei: Ise no Kami Fujiwara Kiyokata, 10¾in. (27.5cm), 18th century, in its natural wood mounting, the saya carved with a snake which forms the kurikata, mother of pearl and horn details, 19th century; the second aikuchi blade, shobuzukuri, iorimune, itamehada, wide suguha hamon of ko-nie, ubu nakago, unsigned, 14¾in. (37.3cm), 18/19th century, in its narrow ribbed black lacquer saya fitted with a shakudo kaeritsuno, the tsuka similarly ribbed but of natural wood, shakudo fuchi-kashira inlaid with plants, similar plain koiguchi, shakudo menuki of monkeys, shakudo and copper kozuka with bamboo in katakiri, 18/19th century; a heavy tanto blade, hirazukuri, iorimune, itamehada , midare hamon of nie, ubu nakago, mei: Soshu no ju Tsunahiro, 113/8in. (28.8cm), 16th century, in its black ishimeji lacquer saya (damaged), copper fuchi-kashira inlaid with a bird and foliage, copper tsuba, copper menuki of sennin, 19th century; and another, the blade, hirazukuri, iorimune, itamehada with some ohada and ji-nie, hoso suguha hamon of ko-nie, ubu nakago, mei: Echizen no ju Sagami no Kami Fujiwara Kunitsuna and Izumi no Kami Fujiwara Kunihiro, 155/8in. (39.7cm), 17th century, in shirasaya; and an aikuchi, the blade, hirazukuri, iorimune, itame-masahada, suguha-gunome hamon, ubu nakago, unsigned, 7¾in. (19.8cm), in its black lacquer saya decorated with kiri in gold and brown lacquer, matching plain silver mounts, silvered kogai, 19th century (5)
