BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER, in English. The Book of Common Prayer. Cambridge: John Baskerville, 1760.
8° (236 x 150mm). Double column with lozenge-and-star typographical borders. (Some light spotting.) Contemporary crimson morocco gilt, sides with the Sacred Monogram and Cross on a central oval green morocco onlay enclosed by a blue morocco onlay, both onlays tooled with cherubs' heads and surrounded by a flame tool, wide gilt wave border, smooth spine divided into seven compartments with repeated oval ornament, gilt board edges and turn-ins, spot-marbled endpapers, gilt page edges (upper joints slightly split, a few light scuff marks). Provenance: 'Elizabeth Smith ... given by Mrs Elizabeth Cocks ... 1805' (earliest of several inscriptions on front blank). Second edition. Gaskell Baskerville 13.
