Of oval section, one side sliding along grooves to reveal four removable drawers with silver pulls, illustrated on one side with Jo and Uba sweeping pine needles on a beach, cranes circling overhead, the reverse with "The Three Friends of Winter", pine, bamboo, and plum, the designs inlaid in mother-of-pearl, coral, horn and colored ivory and set against a kinji ground, with clouds rendered in gold takamaki-e and waters in togidashi, interior compartments nashiji; fitted with a glass bead ojime--3½in. (9cm.) high, each drawer 1 1/8in. (3cm.) deep
