Of oval section decorated in iro-e takamaki-e with a continuous scene of Ariwara no Narihira on horseback with two attendants observing plovers flying over the Yamashiro Tama River, the reverse with three pines on the shore and a silver moon overhead, interior cases nashiji; fitted with a lacquer bead ojime and a lacquer manju netsuke decorated in gold with a horse beneath a flowering plum--3½in. (8.9cm.)
