The rectangular two-tiered box with canted corners and a removable footed tray, the cover cut away on each side to form an openwork frame, lacquered on the exterior in gold takamaki-e, hiramaki-e, kirigane and nashiji, the cover with mountains and a waterfall flowing into a stream, the sides designed with a continuous scene of pines and fences on the banks of a stream, the removable tray lacquered with a fenced pavillion by a stream, interiors and base of box, tray and cover nashiji, fundame rims, ring fittings silver --4¾ x 4¼ x 4 1/8in. (12.1 x 10.7 x 10.5cm.)
