A LOUIS XVI SILVER SAUCEBOAT
PARIS, 1774-1775, MAKER'S MARK OF JEAN-CHARLES ROQUILLE-DESNOYERS

On a spreading oval foot cast and chased with a band of acanthus, the boat-shaped body applied with floral swags and under the lip with a vacant oval cartouche, one end rising from acanthus to form a handle terminating in a ram's head, marked on base; with the charge and discharge of Jean-Baptiste Fouache and Dominique Compant, also struck with later control marks--8in. (20cm.) long
