The large, rectangular box constructed with a hinged lid of four triangles which fit together in a silver lock cast in the form of a sail and twisted rope line, decorated on the exterior in gold takamaki-e and gold foil with large boats and the setting red sun on the four-piece cover and on the sides with additional masts, gold and silver foil sails and pines and clouds and waves rendered in togidashi, the interior tray and inside of the box in roiro-nuri sprinkled with sparse nashiji- 12 x 8 3/4 x 6 in. (30.5 x 22.2 x 15.3 cm.), chips and old losses, nails missing on some metal hinges, cracks
