AN UNUSUAL SILVER PRESENTATION VASE
MAKER'S MARK OF MAUSER MFG. CO., NEW YORK, CIRCA 1903

Of elongated baluster form, the spreading foot formed as flowing water and applied with drifting leaves and acorns, rising to a stem of freestanding waterfalls eminating from rocks, the body chased in high relief with trailing vines, leaves and buds, with two handles realistically formed as twisting branches and leaves, one side chased with a naked muse reaching for fruit from the hands of a putto, the slightly flaring rim chased in high relief and applied with trelliswork and vines, and zig-zag decoration, the other side engraved with a presentation inscription, marked under base--23½in. high

The inscription reads, "Awarded to McNeff Brothers, Yakima, Washington, for BEST BREWING HOP Grown Under Irrigation, Arid States Fruit Exhibit of the Eleventh National Irrigation Congress, September 15-18th, 1903, Ogden, Utah, Presented by Adolphus Busch Esquire in behalf of the Anheuser-Busch Brewing Association."
