Archduchess Maria-Teresa of Austria-Este, Queen of Sardinia, wearing a white dress with large puff-sleeves and a muslin ruff, her centre-parted curled black hair adorned with a jewelled tiara and a large blue velvet turban with pearl-string borders; oval -- 40 mm high, gold frame.

Lot Essay

Archduchess Maria-Teresa (1773-1832), daughter of Archduke Ferdinand of Habsburg and his wife Maria-Beatrice of Este, was married to Vittorio Emanuele I, King of Sardinia (see lot 236), in 1789. Among their six children (one son who died in childhood and five daughters) was Maria-Cristina, future Queen of Naples (see lot 254).
