Two Russet-Glazed Vessels
Song dynasty, 12th century
One a jar with rounded tapering body below a slightly waisted neck and lipped rim, covered overall with a glaze of russet tone falling to just above the beveled edge of the almost flat base; the other a rounded cup fitted into a hollow-centered cup stand and joined to it by a russet-brown glaze with somewhat metallic lustre which covers the interior and falls to mid-body on the exterior of the cup and stand
