INDENTCaptain John Hutchinson Gulliland, born 1892 in Calcutta India, educated at Oundle and Caius College, Cambridge, was gazetted to the 11th Essex Regiment October, 1914; advanced to Captain March 1915 he was wounded at Loos, invalided to England and returned to his Regiment in the spring of 1916. Whilst acting as Second in Command of the Bn. he was promoted to Temporary Major and on 18 July 1916 when attached to the Brigade Staff, he was killed in action (Oundle School Memorial Book refers)
