Lot Essay

The present bronze is the smaller cast of the 10½in. high wax model exhibited by Mêne at the Salon of 1850, entitled 'Kemkon - Handani Arab Mare and Foal'. The casting is finely detailed and together with the playful and dynamic composition creates a realistic group of considerable charm.
