a book of prayers in the Shi'ite tradition, Arabic manuscript on ivory paper, 24ff., each with 9ll. of strong black naskh within gold clouds outlined in black, blue, red, green and gold margins between black rules, blue outer rule, headings on gold cartouches in gold and polychrome illuminated panels, red outer margin betweeen black rules, opening bifolio with very finely illuminated gold and polychrome heading and scrolling floral sprays in the margin, f.23r. with colophon in gold signed by Muhammad Ibrahim al-Qumi and dated 1087 (possibly altered or added), red morocco binding with blue and gold stamped medallion and pendants and gold painted border (some wear)

Lot Essay

On the last page are impressions from a large naskh circular seal of Muhammad 'Abdullah with the Qur'anic verse xxx:112 inscribed around it, from the square naskh signet seal of Qasim, and from the sqare nasta'liq signet seal of 'Abd al-Matin bin Muhammad Baqir.
