A Victorian Welsh oak and mahogany longcase clock, mid 19th century
The wide-bodied case with swan-neck pediment and outset baluster columns to the hood, conforming short inset columns flanking a short trunk door with central marquetry lozenge, conforming decoration to the plinth, raised on bracket feet, the 14in. white dial painted with a female harvester to the arch and with cottage scenes to the spandrels, with Roman chapters, the centre with subsidiary seconds ring and arch date aperture, signed Jno. Williams/CARMARTHEN, black painted hands, with falseplate to the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 90¾in. (230.5cm.) high
