Lot Essay

The schooner Ethel Edith of Ipswich (and later of Faversham) was built by Robert Peck of Ipswich in 1892. Of 97 tons burden, she was 88 feet long, with a 23 foot beam and an 8 foot draught. Owned initially by her builder, by 1919 she had been re-registered at Faversham as the property of Mr Arthur Wenban of Milton Regis. After several further changes of ownership she eventually became a houseboat at Pin Mill until the 1960s and is believed to be still there although in a derelict condition.
